Keep Browning Avenue OPEN: Consultation
The Sutton Council Consultation for part-closure of Browning Avenue to implement a Bus Gate is designed to produce skewed and biased results in favour of the scheme. Continue reading to find out how.
The consultation designed by the Sutton Council has been designed to produce results in favour of the part closure of Browning Avenue. It is not possible to draw a fair and balanced conclusion from this survey as we look at each question and explain below. When filling in the consultation, please follow the guidance provided on this page. In addition, residents have designed a balanced survey to capture both viewpoints. Links to both are at the end of this page. It will be great if you can complete both but if you can only do one, please complete the Council Consultation.
Question 9
This is a list of checkboxes for positive things only – ticking any of them could imply that you think the scheme is successful. There is no comparable list of checkboxes with negative things to record the negative impacts of this scheme, making this consultation biased.
We recommend that you do not tick anything in Question 9.
Q9: Biased question. Leave all blank.
Question 10
This free-form text box is the only place to record opposition and objections.
We recommend that you clearly state your objection to this scheme in Question 10.
Q10: Record your objection here
Question 11
This question is also designed to produce results in favour of the scheme. if you say you support making our streets safer, green etc., it could imply that you support these changes. Yet disagreeing with this question will make you look evil - which is what makes it biased.
Unfortunately, we have to recommend that you select "10 = Do not support at all" to make sure Sutton Council don't use the results of Question 11 as support for the scheme.
Q11: Biased question. Select "10".
Question 12
The formal response to statutory consultation can only be recorded if you respond with "Yes" to this question.
We recommend that you select "Yes" as the response to Question 12, and then WHOLLY OBJECT to the schemes when asked on the next page.
Q12: Important to select "Yes".
